Dear Ms. Nightingale,

oh my, u do have a pretty name there, ma'am! i'd bet u can sing melodious tunes juz like a nightingale!! =) so, hook me up to a private performance sometime, if u pls! ^o^ i juz have a few burning questions regarding the Time Management workshop u gave the other day. first of all, u used the cliche (pls excuse the fact that i have not bothered to put the accent aigu on the "e") "time really flies when u do not manage it well." let's examine this phrase closely, shall we? "time really flies when u do not manage it well." what does that REALLY mean? does time in actuality FLY, meaning it possesses wings and literally takes flight? in that case, we can modify the phrase to "time goes *flap flap* when u do not manage it well." =) OR... does it involve more of a... FEEEELING? for instance, "time really FEELS like it's flying when u do not manage it well." in that situation, is it YOU who feel the "flying" or is it TIME that feels the "flying"? u may argue that of course, it is US who feel this sensation and most definitely NOT time that experiences the "flying" for time is merely an abstract concept and intangible phenomenon. let us take a step back and refer back to the original phrase "time really flies when u do not manage it well." is there a certain flying scale that time is measured by? for example, can time soar higher under one circumstance as opposed to another? what are the factors that govern this standard of flight? and once again, do WE perceive this flying scale and make an appropriate judgment of our flight level... or is it TIME that feels all this??? and anyhow... doesn't time "fly" ANYWAY whether we do or do NOT manage our time well? we are incapable of changing or stopping the passage of time regardless of whether we are working super duper hard (ah-hem *clearing throat* workaholics, pls stop! u're driving the rest of us normal ones insane!!), performing tasks at an efficient, moderate, non-strenuous manner (oh, the joy, the beauty, of being NORMAL!!! *sigh*), or bumming around and idling all day (couch potatoes, pls remove ur moldy, disintegrated bodies from the comfy sofa u're currently sitting on and do something even mildly constructive!) also, this phrase seems a little vague to me. how would u define managing time "well"? is there a measure of how wisely u spend ur time? on a scale of 1-10, 1 being not wise at all and 10 being u can't get any more wiser than this??!! would or should there be a negative component to such a scale? i.e. would someone who scored a -10 mean that he/she has absolutely no clue on how to manage their time, that they are extremely incompetent and might as well live the rest of their miserable lives in an unconscious state??? if so, what are some time management strategies u would suggest in rescuing these poor souls and bringing them back to "life"?

those are my thoughts thus far. thank u for ur kind attention, Ms. Nightingale! (pls don't forget about our one-on-one music get-together, eh? ^o^) and pls reply at ur earliest convenience as i am eagerly anticipating ur answers to my very important questions!!

cheers,
Lisa W. C. Tang
