He doesn't ask us to die for Him on the cross
But for us to love Him with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength
He doesn't ask us to be carefree or in euphoria always
But for us to rejoice amidst our trials as well as blessings
He doesn't ask us to be quiet and to never disagree
But for us to reconcile with Him and be at peace with others
He doesn't ask us to request all our dreams and wishes
But for us to be patient and let His will be done
He doesn't ask us to pour out all our riches and sacrifice our everything for others
But for us to be kind and giving to the needy
He doesn't ask us to be sinless
But for us to be good in heart
He doesn't ask us to blindly follow
But for us to have faith
He doesn't ask us to suppress our anger and let hatred flourish inside
But for us to be gentle in spirit
He doesn't ask us to rid ourselves of desires
But for us to have self-control and avoid temptations
He doesn't ask us to repay Him in any way
But for us to obey
He doesn't ask us to bring back gifts
But for us to be thankful and not abandon Him in our times of good or bad
He doesn't ask us not to have personal satisfaction
But for us to be humble
He doesn't ask us to be flawless
But for us to recognize and accept our weaknesses
He doesn't ask us to be empty of darkness
But for us to be righteous
He doesn't ask us to forget
But for us to forgive
He doesn't ask us to be judgmental
But for us to be accepting
He doesn't ask us to be His marionette
But for us to be His disciples and chosen ones
He doesn't ask us not to be afraid
But for us to trust in Him and be bold in our proclamation of the good news
He doesn't ask us to be undefeatable mighty warriors
But for us to stand up and face our struggles, allowing Him to be our sword and shield
He doesn't ask us to escape this world and live in ignorance or oblivion
But for us to leave the world behind and fix our eyes on the crown
He doesn't ask us to be superhuman
But for us to handle what He has given us for He will not give us more than we can handle
He doesn't ask us to suffer for no reason
But for us to trade our pain and sorrows and lay them down for the joy of the Lord
He doesn't ask us to never stumble and fall
But for us to grow from these experiences and know that He is good all the time
He doesn't ask us to be complete and whole always
But for us to be willing to be broken down and used by Him
He doesn't ask us to be perfect
But for us to imitate Christ more and more
He doesn't ask us not to praise and serve
But for us to hand all the glory to Him for He is worthy
He doesn't ask us to lose our identities and ourselves
But for us to dedicate our lives to him and surrender our all
He asks to be our Father and friend, and for us to be His children and companions
That's all He asks
